Canoeing and Kayaking

The watersports lake at Tallington provides an clean good quality venue for paddle sport enthusiasts, with changing and shower facilities. The Watersports Centre facilities are open daily from April 1 to September 30 from 9.30am to 6.30pm.

All courses are run by fully qualified instructors and our fleet boasts a range of both one person and two person Tootega sit-on-top kayaks, Perception Sonic closed cockpit kayaks and Venture two person canoes. These can be hire by the hour.

Cost £10 single kayak per hour.

Cost £20 double kayak per hour.

Why not book a Kayak Birthday Party? Minimum of six people required, prices are per person, large groups are welcome. Cost £9 each per hour. Please email sailing@tallington.com

All participants must complete a disclaimer before entering the water for the first time.

Cancellation or alteration of bookings must be provided with a minimum of 48 hours notice to allow transfer, or credit note. No refunds given.

By purchasing online tickets/making an online booking you agree to the rules of the park. You also agree to the Activities Venture Ltd Agreement Terms and Conditions, these are available to view on the website and can be directly supplied if requested.

All prices are per head, and based on a group. Paddle Power is a new and exciting scheme from the British Canoe Union, you can work your way through the levels as part of a group or with personal tuition.

Personal Tuition

Hire an instructor for only £25 per hour (equipment hire is not included). These sessions can be tailor-made to include skills such as rolling, or improving stroke work.

Canoe Kayak Launch Rules

Access to Tallington Lakes and use of all facilities is strictly at the individuals risk. Tallington Lakes will not accept liability for any accident or injury however caused and please note the lakes are not supervised. Launch rules:

  • All owners must register and obtain an annual  Launch Permit.
  • Temporary registration and  launch permits are available.
  • In order to register, all owners must provide an original and valid certificate of insurance detailing levels of cover (usually a minimum of £500,000 of third party cover).
  • Registered owners will receive an electronic barrier card to gain automatic entry and exit to Tallington, there is a refundable deposit of £15 per card. All guests must pay £3 per vehicle (plus any relevant launch fees) at reception.
  • Only approved inflatables, kayaks and canoes allowed to launch on our lakes.
  • Crafts may only be launched in their designated area on lake 3.
  • All paddlers  are required to wear CE approved buoyancy aids whilst on the water (minimum 50N).
  • No craft is permitted on the lake between the hours of 10pm (or dusk, whichever is sooner) and 8.00 am.
  • No dogs or pets are allowed in/on the water.
  • Tallington Lakes reserves the right to revoke launch rights at any time without warning, reason or reimbursement.
  • Never paddle after consuming alcohol, using drugs or, when intoxicated.
  • Please note that there is an element of danger when participating in watersports or when in the vicinity of water.
  • All Participants must complete a disclaimer before entering the water for the first time.

Canoe Kayak Annual Launch Fees

Customers wishing to launch their own craft will need insurance and purchase a launch permit from the Main Office.
